HIMACS at the Fuorisalone

HIMACS at the Fuorisalone

HIMACS was not only there at the Superstudio Più: a number of products made from this Solid Surface material were actually on display in other installations adorning the city for the entire period of the Milan Design Week.

Arc, designed by the Dutch practice OS ∆ OOS, is a system of benches and stools springing from the idea of shaping stone in an amazing and unnatural way. “Natural stone” the practice declares ‘is not malleable and so the only way that a form can be had from it is by taking parts away. HIMACS on the other hand lets us achieve the same visual result, with the same properties, but through a different process, one that allows any result at all to be achieved.”

The products from the Arc collection, displayed in the Wallpaper spaces at the Fuorisalone are available in different finishes and configurations, all of them remarkable for their innate, almost unreal, balance.

Facade, designed by the Dutch practice De Intuïtiefabriek, is, on the other hand, an original and modern item of furniture made up of from three to five mirrored door-leaves that can be assembled together. Material, details and forms fold and unfold in this product that has been designed  for the bathroom environment, where HIMACS forms a solid, secure skeleton, and is available in more than a hundred colour variants.

Pic & Nic, designed by Monica Ferrigno and Carlo Dameno, are a table and water-shedding sunshade fitted with a stake, an ideal companion for a packed lunch or a simple snack in the garden. Presented at the din – design in event in the Ventura Lambrate district, Pic & Nic make it possible to have in the simplicity of a single item, a resting surface with cup-holder and a pleasant area of shade.
